Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented IT Operations Technician to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting our IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance of systems, and providing technical support to end users.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management
- Monitor and maintain servers, networks, and computer systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patches across all IT infrastructure
- Configure and deploy hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
- Manage backup systems and ensure data integrity and recovery capabilities
Technical Support
- Provide first and second-level technical support to end users via phone, email, and in-person
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Document and track all support requests using ticketing system
- Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate teams when necessary
System Administration
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software applications
- Monitor system performance and generate regular status reports
- Implement and maintain security protocols and best practices
Operations & Maintenance
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs and software licensing
- Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets and equipment
- Assist with IT projects and infrastructure upgrades
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of experience in IT support or operations role
- Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Experience with network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365, and cloud services
- Understanding of backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring tools and ticketing systems
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices
Technical Skills
- Operating Systems: Windows Server, Windows 10/11, macOS, Linux
- Networking: Routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points
- Hardware: Desktop/laptop repair, server hardware, printers
- Software: Microsoft Office Suite, antivirus solutions, remote desktop tools
- Cloud Platforms: Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS (basic knowledge)
